Strategic Business Leadership: Creating and Delivering Value
Building platforms for success is critical in today’s changing business environment. This program will equip managers to effectively manage their work and relationships to be more productive in contemporary organizations. They will learn to manage cross-functional, cross-organizational relationships, develop social capital, and create and manage organizational strategic partners.

Participants will also gain an understanding of how a savvy manager transitions to a leadership role and how to create an environment where creativity is the norm.

Who Should Attend
This seminar is ideal for senior executives and upper-level managers responsible for executing business strategy. The course is designed to assist leaders in identifying opportunities and mobilizing resources to create value. This course is especially recommended for leaders who bring people together from diverse functional groups or lines of business to effectively execute strategic initiatives. Executives will actively think creatively and strategically about their leadership role and learn how to build social capital, broaden their influence to increase productivity, and accomplish performance-driven goals. Throughout the week, participants will work on an individual business challenge and create an action plan for creating and delivering value.

  • Ronald Burt
    Ronald Burt is the Hobart W. Williams Professor of Sociology and Strategy at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In addition to teaching courses in Chicago Booth MBA programs, Professor Burt teaches Strategic Leadership, a capstone course in Chicago’s Executive Education programs.
    Harry Davis
    Harry Davis teaches MBA and executive education courses at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he has been on the faculty since 1963. Dr. Davis received an MA in sociology and a PhD in marketing from Northwestern University. His teaching and research interests lie in the areas of strategy, leadership, and creativity.
    Holly Raider
    Holly Raider has been at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business since 2001, where she designs, plans, and implements custom corporate education programs in the areas of leadership and organization change. Prior to her work at Chicago Booth, Holly was an assistant professor of Organizational Behavior at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
    Classes are held at the Gleacher Center of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, 450 North Cityfront Plaza Drive, situated along the Chicago River (one block east of Michigan Avenue), in the heart of the downtown district known as "The Magnificent Mile." The Center is within walking distance from some of Chicago's most exciting retail and entertainment areas.
    The course will begin at 8:00am on Monday and end at noon on Friday.
